Typical day at LDO.  It gets very hot during the day!  There is no shade except for near the gate or inside of the buildings.

We saw that the mattresses that the orphans slept on were very old and dirty.   

We went to a nice local department store - it was kind of like a small Wal-Mart.  We saw that the orphans had MANY needs and since we brought $2,500 in funds that would be used directly for the orphans' needs - we started shopping, and shop we did!  $2,500 goes a LONG way in Kenya.

This is a "lorry" - a truck that will be able to bring all the things we brought.  

First project - replace all the mattresses.

Alexa saw that this orphan, Sarah, had a very bad ear infection.  We used our first aid kit to clean her ear out.  

This is John, one of the littlest orphans.  He is 5 years old.

Second project - repair the water tank and buy a new one.  The one on the left is the new one.  They do not have running water so they use water that is collected from rainwater through gutters into the water tanks.

Third project - donate clothes that we collected from USA to the orphans.  It was crazy and difficult to spread them out evenly to the children, and they were very aggressive into trying to get the clothes.  But the end result is the same - they all have clothes without holes in them!

Moises is the "coach" - he always thinks of things to do with the children and encourages them to play soccer.

Mini-project: Give the orphans new sunglasses!

More Projects: Build a canopy to shield the heat, build benches, start a garden, build new platforms for the water tank, buy more cooking equipment, new shoes, and new school materials.  We had to get ANOTHER lorry!

Moises and Kristina got a donation from one of their friends that was to be used towards new shoes for the children - and with that donation, we were able to get them all THREE new pairs of shoes!

After all day, we were finally able to get it up!  We do not have the final picture of the finished project, because it was dark by the time.  Next blog will have one!
