Hi everyone!
We are in Kisii, Kenya, Africa right now! We are having a great time with the orphans and the staff here! God has truly blessed this place. Pictures below are of our road trip to New York City, our flight to JFK, and the travel from Nairobi to Kisii, and finally meeting the orphans! We are still taking pictures every day and are in the middle of buying a lot of things to improve the conditions at Lance's Deaf Orphans (LDO).

Packin' the rental van! |
The team before hitting the road. Note Jason and Mistie - they couldn't come, but offered to help with the packing! |
Road Trip! |
After 22 hours on the road, we finally reached New York City (we stayed in New Jersey) |
JFK airport. All the luggage you see are donated goods! We have individual backpacks. |
Waiting for our flight! |
Javier, Dallas, Alexa, and Alex had a 9 hour layover in Cairo, Egypt - so naturally, we went straight to the pyramids. But the trip to get to the pyramids was the most craziest trip we've ever had and by the time we arrived, it was too late to enter the area, but we were able to get on the top of a Pizza Hut and take this picture. They are awesome to see! |
Cairo traffic. And the book you see above is the taxi driver's Koran! |
Now boarding the plane to Nairobi! |
Finally in Nairobi. This picture was taken around 4:30 in the morning, since our flight arrived 3:45. We all were tired! The guy sitting to the left of Dallas is William, our team interpreter. He is an awesome guy! We all waited in his home till noon because we wanted to save hotel costs. |
Many local children were curious of us "white folks" |
Picking up Kat from the airport. We went to the airport two more times to pick up Moises/Kristina, and then Kat. From 3:45 am till 11 pm! |
The next day - waiting to get on the van to go to Kisii. We had to haul all this luggage around! |
Was a challenge to fit all of us in, but we did. |
Rift valley. |
Wild Zebras |
Our dinner |
After 7 hours, we finally got to the road that leads to LDO! It was very muddy and the van got stuck, so we had to get out and push the van. |
FINALLY! We met the orphans, who waited for us all night! |
Alexa and Sarah |

The team and our van at LDO |
Introducing our names and their names. They all are so cute and so smart! |
Sunday morning - church - sharing Luke 17 - look it up! |
Pamela, the youngest orphan. 3 years old. |
They all are very well-behaved and courteous |
Outside activity! We played an "icebreaker" game to memorize all of our names and signs |
To get to town from LDO, we all have to pack in a matamu (van). Those rides are crazy and tight! |
That's all for now! We are doing new things every day and are still taking pictures. We hope to get to town again in a couple days and upload another blog! No internet access at LDO.
Pray for us and donate at www.odeafo.com/donate! The kids need a lot more than we can give, and we need your prayers and donations!
Thanks and God bless!
