Updates from LDO

Hello everyone!

We are all back in the USA, and we all are settled back in our lives, but we will never forget the summer we had and the children we met in Africa.  It was truly a wonderful experience, and we are motivated to help the ministries that we have met and the wonderful adults who serve the children daily.

Being in USA has also reminded me and all of us of how blessed we are to live in this country, and it has reminded me that we are in a wonderful position to help - but that there are temptations everywhere for us to serve myself rather than others.  Let's strive to not only pray for deaf children in Africa, but also to donate to physically support their needs!

Here are some updates and pictures that the "men on the field" was able to send us - thanks to Winston and Daniel!

Children at LDO getting new sweaters - Moises and Kristina was able to raise funds and ODO chipped in some to help all the children get new sweaters.  It is usually cold in the mornings, so these sweaters will keep the children warm!

We miss these kids!

Y'all look sharp!

When we were there, LDO had two water tanks (one that was already there and a new one that we purchased).  Recently there was a huge rainfall and this water tank was filled to the brim and the wooden platform supporting the tank collapsed, making the tank fall and crack.  It is now all torn up and obviously cannot be repaired.  LDO has requested us to send money to help them get a new water tank, and I am asking YOU to donate some to help us help them!  Please consider making a donation today.  You can donate at www.odeafo.com/donate.  Thanks!

Again, if you want to donate to help us with the water tank, you can do so at www.odeafo.com/donate.  Thanks!

Here is the next update that we got - ODO was able to donate money to send 9 children and two staff to a deaf camp so the children could interact with other kids and enjoy camp.  Here are the pictures o the camp.  We are overjoyed to know that they had a great time!

The location of the camp.

All of the kids!  The kids with blue sweaters in front are LDO orphans.

Introducing themselves.   The man on the right is Kennedy, a guy we met and one of the coordinators of the camp.  He works with DOOR.

Singing a song!  That's what they do very well!

This is Veronica, one of the teachers at LDO.

This is a list of all the different schools that sent children to the camp!  Can you find LDO?  We also visited Sam's Place!

Again, LDO kids are the ones with the bleu sweaters.

Winston is on the right - he made it possible for everyone to go, coordinating all the details and the travel.

Till next time, LDO kids!
