Fourth Week, Camp Week!

Kevin enjoying the coconut that we brought from the Indian Ocean (Mombasa, Kenya)

Alexa sharing a package of peanuts and cashews.

There are a lot of bunnies here and these two are just two of the many babies that come every once in a while.

Praying Mantis, born and raised in Kenya.

Christine, the one who is drinking water, was severely sick. Many of the kids here get sick frequently because there is not enough nutrients for them to take in and they get very cold at night time as the buildings here will not keep them warm. It is our goal to to change all of this.

This is what happens when the kids do not listen or misbehave.

Carol, Alex and Jamri chilling.

LDO's backyard.

The boys helping out with spreading peanut butter and jelly for their snacks.

Pineapple juice, yum!

Alex wrestling with Kevin, one of the older and bigger boys here.

On Sunday, the kids spent the entire day doing different activities and this is one of them, passing the ball with their legs.

Mistie doing her laundry.

Jason is pumped to take the kids on a walk to get soda after a fun morning of playing games.

Jamri asleep, african style.

We made sure the staff participated.

One of the scenes of a movie we shot today.

The movie is about two brothers, one who accepted the blame of a murder to save the other.

Sunny and Stormy Days

Hello everyone - we are now in our third week in Kenya.  We just got back from a break in Mombasa which was very nice for the team.  After this weekend, we will have a week-long camp!

Lance on his last day with us.  He stayed for 10 days and did a lot in those 10 days, including leading a building project, meeting with local government officials, giving out plenty of hugs and candy to the children, and encouraging the ODO team to keep on working hard for the orphans' future.

Here are the leaders for LDO - Lance, the outgoing leader, Winston, the new director of LDO, and Alex, who leads ODO with his wife and the team.

Maurine in a moment of bliss

Everyone watching videos that Javier made.

Javier gives plenty of love!

Stephen.  He is currently very sick and we took him to the hospital and are praying for his recovery.

Elphas teaching a class.

Kevin, Stephen, and Pauline.

That's Jamri in the background!

Felix

Maurine again

Working on a building project with a looming storm.

Jason loves to cut, hammer, and saw, and so does Kristina!  They are working on a new chicken coop.

Storms fascinate all of us.  It puts a stop to life for a good 20-30 minutes!

Moises with Erick, Elvis, and Evans.

Playing a game that they invented with scraps of wood

Mary's baby cow is eating a straw mat.  We shooed her away shortly after this picture.

Ephy.  Always very curious and loves to cuddle.

Rainwater is good - it fills up water tanks and reduces the pressure on the children to bring water from the river.

Got milk?

Japheth with candy!

Dinnertime.  Those are delicious chapatis with avocados.  In the background are rice and lentils.

Its pouring rain in this picture.  The gutters that we put up last year still work, but they leak in some places.  We hope to be able to put up a better gutter.

Kids coming back from the river.  They got caught in the rain!

Felix doesn't care if it is cold and wet!

Here you see a coming rainstorm.  Water is precious in Kenya so every rainfall is a beautiful thing!
That is all for now.  Keep on praying for us and donate if you can at www.odeafo.com/donate!  :)
